I produced a Wychmere Beach Club wedding video in Harwich Port, Massachusetts, right at the elbow of the Cape Cod peninsula in early spring. Sometimes that time of year can be right on the edge of being chilly outdoors, but not this day. Perfect sunny weather made for a great outdoor ceremony. These two did a first look on the beach, and took care of their portraits before the ceremony, with their photographer, Allana from Ars Magna studio. She happens to be my neighbor in the Fort Point neighborhood of Boston. We’ve worked a couple weddings together, and I was lucky enough to have her photograph my own wedding!
We also teamed up for some portraits on this wedding- I shared my video light with Allana so she could have a nice soft spotlight effect for one of their wedding portraits. I welcome collaboration with other artists and am glad when they are like-minded. Have a look at the results over on her blog at Ars Magna Studio.
Their ceremony was right on the waterfront, with music by a string ensemble giving an elegant atmosphere. The reception was next door, in the wedding venue’s Ocean Room.
I arrived on the Cape the day before the wedding, partly to avoid the usual heavy traffic, but also because they added rehearsal dinner coverage. Their wedding weekend started off with families making connections and stories being shared while enjoying a meal at L’Alouette French Bistro, also in Harwich Port.
During the wedding planning they shared their story of how their relationship progressed.
In the bride’s words: “We met after college while working together at a law firm in Boston. Our friendship blossomed into love as he introduced her to delicious North End cannolis, and she kept finding excuses to drive him home. Since 2007, they’ve shared adventures together all over the world: in New York, D.C., Vermont, Hong Kong, Pittsburgh, Paris, and, most importantly, Cape Cod. It was while taking a break from kayaking on a sandbar in Truro’s Pamet Harbor, before they started dating, that they discovered that they had lived across the street from each other in Paris, only a few years apart. In the same spot last August, almost six years later, he proposed, surrounded by both of their families.”
